Cuticle Care
A lot of us don't realize the importance of maintaining healthy cuticles, after all, as long as they're not hurting, it's all good, right? Yeah, not so much. Cuticles are where the rubber meets the road, or more precisely, where the nail plate meets its matrix. That's right, cuticles are more than just an added section of meaningless skin. They're there to protect the matrix, from which nail health begins.
Not only can a little bacteria in the matrix cause infection, but it can also cause misshapen and not so very aesthetically pleasing nails.
To avoid having the wrong kind of "funky" nails, don't nibble, push, or cut your cuticles, they are there for a purpose. When your Licensed Nail Technician pushes them back, they should only be doing so when they have been softened. If they are cutting them, ask them to stop. Remember, your cuticles are important, don't neglect them!
As always, I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have questions you'd like to see me address!
