It's My Own Germs
Not long ago there was a trend in nail salons offering a "personal" kit of file, buffer and pumice stone for you to bring with you for each visit. It seems good, right? After all, you are the only person using them. Yeah, not so much. Bacteria grow and reproduce quickly in dark and moist environments. Even if they were only used on you, that little box is a breeding ground for those germs to turn into something nefarious. Picture if you will, going to your dentist and him pulling out an envelope with the gloves and implements he used on you the last time you were in. After all, they’re just “your germs.” Of course, that would never happen! In the same way, you should never be subject to germs that have been sitting…in the dark…doing what bacteria do best…reproduce. Don’t be misled by the notion that anything other than sanitized or new items are acceptable for use on your hands.
